I mean, I've watched Ghost Hunters, and while I think they aren't actually finding anything either, at least watching how they go about it was more interesting. They were still pretty quick to believe something was "paranormal" but (at least in the beginning) they were trying to find logical explanations for things, like why a door would open by itself or what certain noises really were. In one episode in the first few seasons I think they may even have saved a guys life because while he thought his cellar was haunted and became depressed, it turned out all the wiring to his breaker box was done wrong and he was being affected by bad wiring, which can cause mood changes, but is also dangerous as hell and his house could have burned down. He wasn't haunted. He just needed an electrician. In later seasons it became clear they were making more stuff up to keep ratings and I think that's why the one guy quit.
He has a new series and in the second episode, they went to a sanitarium, and the first day they were there they were walking through the place thinking everyone in the place had died tormented and afraid and everyone was having "experiences" until he insisted they go speak to a historian and actually ask about the building instead of listening to what the rumors were and it turned out the placed had been well thought of and wasn't a sanitarium but an old age home for wives of veterans, and weirdly once they all knew that they didn't think the place was haunted anymore. Funny how perception changed their experiences in the building, almost as if it's not the building that's haunted but what people want to believe because it's "spooky" and old.
These guys in Ghost Adventures however think every noise and shadow is a malevolent ghost and spend all their time in the dark just screaming at nothing and each other to prove how tough they are and then freak themselves out and pat themselves on the back for "surviving" another harrowing experience in a dark cellar.
Watching How the Universe Works and boy I'm realizing just how doom and gloom most astronomers actually are. Every episode ends in our demise, the sun's demise, the solar system's demise, the galaxy's demise, and even the end of the entire universe! Bummer.
