It's the hot ticket on Broadway right now. Seeing as a bunch of us will be in NYC next April, I'm thinking of trying for a rush ticket, because no way I can afford one at regular prices. Found out that the man who created and wrote Hamilton did some music for the new Star Wars movie. That's cool.
A few other trips I took I even entered for tickets using the Ham app and nope. Never won. I signed up for the newsletter at that theater so they'd email me as soon as new tickets went on sale through the theater, (meaning original price, not second hand jacked up to insane amounts price), and even then all the tickets would be gone and going for 600 dollars on the mezzanine. WTF.
So I'm finally going to see it... in 2019. They're coming to a local theater and I just got a subscription. And even though they just announced yesterday I'm still in the balcony. (But at least it's an aisle seat.) And on the plus side I get to see 5 other shows if I want.
OK, so Ticketmaster sent out this mass email about registering for pre-sales if you are "randomly selected". After you are selected, they send you a code and a link the next day and then two hours later the site opens so you can buy tickets to the latest block that is for sale straight from the box office and not second-hand sales. So I'm going to try one more time since I got the email saying I (plus probably a million other people) was selected to get the code tomorrow morning.
I got an email from the local theater about my tickets, just a "thanks for your order" type thing, and I clicked on the link about Hamilton tickets and the ones they have for sale are all ones being resold and people are charging up to 1400 dollars for them. That's just nuts! Why would anyone pay 1400 dollars for a ticket to see the touring group show? It'd still be less to get a ticket to the NYC show, pay for the train and a hotel and have dinner somewhere stupid expensive!
The same reason anyone would see any musical. For the musical. I saw Wicked when it wasn't whatsherfacewhosenameJohnTravoltascrewedup. And Once when it wasn't the original cast. Loved both. I mean, he's great and all but... he's not the only person that can sing. (Although I do wish I could have seen him in the role.)
