So, I bought a new couch. Finally.
But I didn't do it the normal way, which was go to a furniture store, test out couches, and then buying it so they'd ship it to my house. Nope. I ordered it online, real life sight unseen and unsat. But it looked nice and it was affordable and they offered free shipping, so I pulled the trigger.
Initially I was told that it would arrive on July 14th, which I was ok with. Then on Tuesday night I got an email saying it would be delivered on Wednesday. Then on Wednesday we got a call saying it was pushed back a day. So yesterday I stayed home because I thought it would be arriving at 9AM. I had gotten up early that day and moved a large roll top desk out of the entrance way and got other things sorted, so they'd be room to bring the couch in, even if I didn't have the old one moved out just yet. By 1PM I called and was told that someone called in, the driver was behind schedule. But it was starting to threaten rain so I told them to bring it the next day, meaning today.
So this morning I got up early so I could take my couch out and put it to the curb. (Trash pick up isn't until Monday morning but I figured a few days out there wouldn't be so bad.) Moving the couch from where it was to the door wasn't that hard. Getting it out two doors... naturally, it got stuck. With me on the outside. I didn't have my keys so I could get in through the back door and all I had was my iTouch that isn't a cell phone. Luckily my wifi reached and I was able to use Skype to call the house to get someone to bring my keys. Because my only other alternative was to crawl back over the couch or break in one of the windows (which I can, but there's furniture in front of it.)
Eventually I got back into the house and I could not see how it was stuck. Because the damn thing is all straight lines and if the front fit, the rest should have. It took me about 20 minutes but with enough pushing and pulling I was able to finally get it to a point that I went back outside and was able to force the damn thing out and off the porch. I did bend my screen door. I really should have taken that and my other door off before hand, but woulda coulda shoulda.
New couch finally arrived after I had to leave for work, so I have that to look forward to when I get home. But as I'm sitting here at work now I'm noticing all sorts of fun bruises on my arms. And my shoulder hurts.
I think after this all of my furniture will be inflatable.
